Backlinking

Backlinking DiagramBacklinking Testing

I just finished reading a report on backlinking by Daniel Tan, “The SEO Guy”.  It was very interesting.  It had two sites that were both targeting the same keyword.

Backlinking Scenario

Site A has excellent on page optimization with titles, headings, good layout, less html elements, good face and fonts, good keyword density, and many other things that make up a good page. It only had 1 backlink.

Site B had some content with very little on page optimization, but he hired 3 SEO companies to build him thousands of backlinks regularly.  This guy was loaded and would spare no cost to build more backlinks as required.

Site A with excellent content and good on page optimization could rank #1 in Google with only 1 backlink. But Site B with good content and no on page optimization and his building of many backlinks could overtake Site A easily.

Backlinking Results – What They Tell Us

The battle between Site A and Site B went on and on.  But in the end Site A won, why? Because Site A has what is called On-Page Leverage.  You see with as little as 10 backlinks versus 100 backlinks you can outrank Site B.  The reason is good page optimization makes Site A better with significantly less backlinks which is The Golden Rule of SEO:On-Page Leverage.

So On-Page Leverage wins the battle between content and backlinking. Your backlinking is not as important as quality optimized content.
